Sidney BC Canada ward

Baptized 1979

I was 30 years old when I was baptized in Savannah Georgia USA

I moved to Vancouver Island in 1986.

Callings: I have worked primary in Young Women during my years in the church as teacher, YW president and Stake YW president.  I worked a short time in Primary.  In more recent years I have taught Seminary and Gospel Doctrine class and most recently I have served in Relief Society stake as counselor and in Ward Relief Society as President.

I really enjoyed Young Women callings more than anything else I have done.

I grew up in the Baptist Church and as an adult I wanted to find God’s church as I was sure there must be one that taught what He would have wanted.  I was divorced with a very young daughter. At that very time I was visited by missionaries and was baptized.

What calling have you enjoyed the most? I am currently secretary in Relief Society and also Temple and Family History Consultant Director in Powell River.

Could you briefly share a story regarding your conversion

My parents and baby sister joined the church a year after I got married.  My dad gave me a Book of Mormon and A Marvelous Work and a Wonder.  After attending a homemaking activity and fireside with my parents I decided that if I ever changed religions this would be the one.  It was just a very strong feeling that I knew that Heavenly Father wanted me to be part of His church.  It took me about 6 years to act on that feeling.  Our oldest daughter was almost 9 and her and I were baptized the same day.  My husband joined 2 years later after Powell River was part of the Courtenay District.  He baptized our youngest daughter in 1988.
